THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family-related matters. She focuses a majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions as well as child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate and estate administration as well as commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases that involved child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law including custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
