THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes divorce property distribution and child custody battles. child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions and concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice transcended her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody and guardianships, as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's need.
