THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues, step-parent and private party adoptions as well as issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the parent or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond her legal profession and she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with a commitment to providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
