Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by a court since the year and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned beyond the realm of law as she actively served as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce, custody, child support and guardianships - as well as estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the aim of providing a customized approach to each client's need.
